Double Fringed Tulip 'Queensland'
Not only will the soft pink hues make you fall in love with the Queensland Tulip, but the delicate white edging also brings it alive. With double the number of petals to a normal tulip, this is a showstopping bloom that is equally suited to pots and garden beds.
Tulips need at least six hours of sun a day to flower at their best but keep them protected from afternoon sun. Tulips also need good, drained soil. Dig a hole as deep as three times the bulb height. Put the tulip with the tip up and roots down, in the hole. Cover it with soil, give a little bit of water and wait for the magic to happen. If you live in warm climates, you will need to place your bulbs in the fridge for 4 to 6 weeks before planting. After flowering and all leaves have turned brown, remove the bulb from the soil. You then store the bulb in a cool, dry and airy position. It’s a good idea to wrap it in some newspaper or a brown-paper bag.
