Plant frost-sensitive crops now.
With all likelihood of frost past, now is the ideal time to plant frost tender plants and summer crops. Plant citrus, avocado, banana and other subtropicals and transplant seedlings into the garden.
Protect summer crops from snails and slugs. Use beer traps, diatomaceous earth or snail and slug pellets.
Transplant seedlings of pumpkins, tomatoes, capsicum and chilli, corn, beans, cucumber, melons and zucchini into a vegie garden enriched with well-rotted compost and decomposed manure.
Plant edible tubers like Galangal, Turmeric and Ginger as well as ornamental tubers such as Dahlias.
Wasabi Mazuma
A dual-purpose edible plant that’s perfect for pots and shaded areas, wasabi has lovely edible heart-shaped foliage as well as its highly prized root which is used to make wasabi paste. You may not know, but a large amount of ‘wasabi’ is actually just horseradish with food colouring – so growing your own guarantees you get the real deal. Protect from snails, slugs and rabbits as well as hot afternoon sun. Suitable for pots as well as moist shaded areas of the garden.

Clive and Penny Blazey, founders of The Diggers Club, gifted ownership of their highly successful garden company, along with family-owned properties Heronswood and St Erth, to The Diggers Foundation (formerly the Diggers Garden and Environment Trust) in 2011.
