FIG 'DIGGERS PURPLE HEART'

FIG 'DIGGERS PURPLE HEART'

Ficus carica 'Diggers Purple Heart'
Member $24.95
Donated to Diggers by Cheryl Dingle, a Diggers member from regional Victoria. Cheryl's tree came from a cutting from a farm in Alexandra, and was reported to have been brought into Australia by a Spanish or Italian immigrant in the late 1800s. Cheryl named it 'The Heart Fig' after the distinctive heart-shaped leaf, and described it as 'the Rolls Royce of figs'. Once we tasted it, we couldn't agree more! Delicious sweet fruit with a thin skin that means you can eat the fruit whole. You'll NEVER see this one at the supermarket!
