Salvia ' Bees Bliss '
Adored by pollinators, this salvia is a low spreading hybrid between Californian Purple Sage, Salvia leucophylla and Creeping Sage (Salvia sonomensis), bringing together the best traits from each. ‘Bee’s Bliss’ forms a carpet of silver-grey leaves clothing layers of prostrate branches. Whorls of dusky grey buds persist after the slender soft mauve tubular flowers, which remain decorative throughout the year. A wonderful long-flowered ground cover.
Plant in full sun in any soil that is free-draining . A tough salvia, tolerant of frost, heat, cold and drought once established. Perfect for gravel gardens, as an edging or front of border position. Bees and other insects particularly love the continual blooms over a long period. Prune back any unwanted growth and cut out dead or weak stems. Clean away excess dead foliage at base to avoid moisture build up over winter and mulch well to protect root zone to protect from excessive heat or cold.
