Doug’s involvement with the Rose Society has been as a Rose Show exhibitor, judge and administrator, a pruning demonstrator at many venues in Adelaide and the South East of the state and as a Council member in the roles of Secretary, Bulletin Editor, Councilor, Vice President and as the current President. Doug has been a guest speaker at a number of garden clubs and the Society’s monthly meetings. Doug was awarded Life Membership of the Society in July 2017. Overall, Doug has seen his role as an advisor to give gardener’s confidence in rose growing and advancing the culture of the rose.

Gavin Woods has grown and shown roses for most of his life, first exhibiting as a teenager in the 1970’s. Gavin has won many Grand Champion awards with his blooms and is the current Chief Judge for the Rose Society of South Australia. Gavin is a National and World accredited Rose Judge, having judged in every state of Australia and overseas. A past President of both the Rose Society of South Australia and the National Rose Society of Australia, Gavin has lectured on growing, showing and judging roses both locally and interstate. He also is the current author of the “Cultural Notes” for the RSSA quarterly newsletter. His large garden in Kadina has been open to garden groups on many occasions.
