Bred in the 1950s, this late season pear has excellent storage qualities, keeping for months with no detriment to flavour or texture. In fact, stored fruit of this variety develop a deeper flavour, and can be enjoyed throughout autumn and winter. Purple-red skin gradually matures to a rich glossy red. A compact tree ideal for smaller gardens. Pollinated by `Conference' and `Beurre Bosc'.
