Olive 'Frantoio'

Famous for the most fruity and aromatic oil in Tuscany where the Italians call it Paragon. In fact, the name ‘Frantoio’ refers to the village press used to extract the prized oil. With an oil content up to 25%, this is the olive to plant if you are looking to press your own. Will grow over a wide climatic range, from inland Tasmania to southern Queensland, but will need to be stressed a little in warm winter areas to force fruiting. Self-pollinating.

How to grow

Growing in a wide range of Australian conditions, olives are tolerant of poor soils, but grow best in a well-drained fertile soil. Fertilise in spring and summer and water during flowering and fruit set if required.
