Actually a type of blackberry, the Silvanberry is a tasty thornless variety, developed by the Department of Agriculture in the 1970s at Silvan in Victoria. It ripens slower than other blackberries making it easier to pick at the perfect time. Silvanberries hold well on the bush and won't turn to mush in the blink of an eye.
