Developed by the Department of Agriculture in the 1970s at Silvan in Victoria, this cross between marionberry and boysenberry is slower to ripen than most caneberries, making it easier to pick at the perfect time. Silvanberries hold well on the bush and won’t turn to mush in the blink of an eye. Vigorous berries, plant in a dedicated berry bed and remove suckers as they appear.
