Seed Potato 'White Star'

White Star is a larger-sized potato producing smooth cream coloured skin and firm creamy white flesh. A versatile and reliable variety it holds its shape well when cooked. Making it ideal for boiling, baking and crisp chips. Known for its consistently large tubers and excellent yields, White Star performs particularly well in warmer climates. This indeterminate variety forms tubers along the stem, so covering around 70% of the growing stems with soil, straw or compost will help encourage greater yields and protect developing potatoes from sunlight.

How to grow

All potatoes can be grown in the soil, in towers and grow bags. In the case of indeterminate potatoes, they produce their crop along their growing stem, just like tomatoes; the only difference is that tomatoes grow above the soil, fruiting along the exposed stem upward; while potatoes crop below the soil, so the stem must be continually covered up in order to produce viable tubers. These are often your most prolific, late harvest varieties needing around 90-120 days to reach maturity.
