Peanut 'Middleton'
Although Australia produces less than 1% of the world's peanuts, they are easy to grow, if given full sun and protection from frost during spring and autumn. They make a wonderful groundcover, and fill your soil with nitrogen! As their flowers fade, elongated 'pegs' extend into the soil, and gradually mature into peanuts. These delicious ground nuts are ripe for harvest as the foliage begins to yellow. Dry in the sun, and enjoy fresh milky texture of home grown peanuts. And once harvested, fork in the stems to feed the soil!
