Olive 'Hardy's Mammoth'
A uniquely Australian olive first planted in SA along the Torrens River, not far from Adelaide, by famous winemaker Thomas Hardy, founder of Hardy Wines. A lovely large sweet green olive suitable for preserving for the table, the fruit, while all olive, has an almost tropical backnote, like guava and passionfruit, but with plenty of meat for your antipasto platter. Can be slow to fruit, with some waiting up to 7 years, but it is well worth the wait.
Growing in a wide range of Australian conditions, olives are tolerant of poor soils, but grow best in a well-drained fertile soil. Fertilise in spring and summer and water during flowering and fruit set if required.
