'Wasabina'
Wasabina is a striking Japanese mustard green with finely serrated leaves and a zesty, wasabi-like flavour. Fast-growing and perfect for cooler seasons, it adds a spicy punch to salads, stir-fries, and pickles. Easy to grow and highly nutritious, it’s an ideal choice for adding bold flavour to your garden harvest.
How to grow
Greens in the cabbage family need rich soil with some lime for a pH of about 7.5 and adequate water so the growth is never checked. A good cover of mulch will insulate them from hot, dry spells of weather. Their most damaging pest are the caterpillars of the white cabbage butterfly. Dipel, pyrethrum and netting are all effective organic controls for these voracious pests.
