Chinese Cork Oak
A rare deciduous oak with chestnut-like leaves that produce a wonderful dappled shade under a shapely domed crown. Its distinctive, deeply-creased, corky bark provides added interest. If you have room, plant a row of these as a unique large hedge.
How to grow
Plant in full sun in free-draining soil. Good tolerance to drought, heat and humidity once established. Not suited to coastal exposure. Deeply fissured bark can be harvested for cork.
