GARDEN PHOTOGRAPHY - A BEGINNERS GUIDE

November in the Garden

The first sunshine for weeks these past days and we are busy preparing the summer borders for the season. Most of the weeding and dividing has been completed and we are on to one of my favourite jobs – filling gaps (which always mysteriously appear after every winter). There are all sorts of new plants available, such enticing things as Veronicastrum Coen Jensen, Geranium Dragon Heart, and Sanguisorba Nettlesworth Wand, all still rather rare and occasional limited batches will be available in Diggers Garden Shop at Cloudehill, make sure to check when you are there.

This summer we begin our Twilight Events with Ozact putting on Macbeth, the Scottish play no less, and this morning I’ve been having tremendous fun helping design the poster. Of course, we needed something with a nerve-tingling edge to it. The castle behind Macbeth is not really Scottish though, it’s on the Island of Lindisfarne, off the coast of Northumberland and only dates to around 1550 rather than the early Kings of Scotland but don’t you think the sky is fantastic?

One thing to keep in mind – this summer the Ozact players are putting on their Cloudehill show the last weekend of December Fri 30 & Sat 31. This means two things – number one, fans of Ozact have the chance to take in Macbeth as a prelude to whatever else they have planned for December 31. Macbeth will finish around nine, leaving plenty of time to move on to other things. Also, staging Shakespeare in December frees up January for something rather special. We have some interesting things coming up in our Twilight Event Series. Watch this space!

Tickets are on sale courtesy of Trybooking. So, if you’re looking for the perfect Christmas stocking filler - why not buy a few tickets and bring family & friends?

Get your Diary out! We've got some great Diggers Club workshops scheduled for the 3rd December, in the morning at 10.30am we'll be looking at Permaculture and learning how to identify and utilise growing spaces and understand the cycles that operate in the garden to help you decide what plants you should grow and where to plant them. In the afternoon at 1pm, we have something quite unique, a beginners guide to Garden Photography. Begin or continue your photographic journey through gardens and landscape with photographer Sue Clisby. Call 03 9751 0584 to find out more and book your spot.
