There is no substitute for a home grown melon that has been left on the vine to soak up the sun, and picked when perfectly ripe. What masquerades as rockmelon, or cantaloupe (depending on where you are from), in the greengrocer, bears no relation to the sweet dripping lusciousness of a homegrown muskmelon.
