Caneberries

Caneberries are a group of berries that include the other berries that are delicious derivatives of those raspberries and blackberries we love.

Growing and fruiting well in the same growing conditions as apples and stone fruits, cane berries are a wonderful addition to the home orchard. Plant in full sun in a soil enriched with compost and decomposed manure. Mulch after planting to minimise weed growth. Apply blood and bone in autumn and early spring. Growing a selection extends your harvest and captures the true flavours of summer, from mild-yet-sweet loganberries to the deliciously tart marionberry.
