Macquarie Primary School's Vegie Program Thrives with Diggers' 'Seed the Future'

Macquarie Primary School in Canberra run a veggie garden program at the school, and we have provided them with seed through our 'Seed the Future' program.

This program exists thanks to new or returning Diggers members as a small portion is set aside when they join our membership that gives back to our growing community.  Through this program, community groups and schools that would otherwise be unable to participate in gardening are able to access seed and discover the joy and benefits of growing their own fresh food.

This is the first year Macquarie Primary School has someone working solely in the role of horticulturalist/garden coordinator, which has proved to be a huge success! The children are now learning how to sow seed, transplant seedlings and harvest crops whilst also protecting their garden beds during growing.

We have provided them with seeds to prepare for their summer garden that includes a collection of Diggersfruit and vegetables seeds so they will be well on their way in spring!

We thank our members for making this possible through their support and encourage others to get involved!
