Gardenworthy plants

Plant your Diggers plants and bulbs with confidence they will succeed. At Diggers we trial all our plants for garden worthiness, discarding any that do not perform well, or flower too briefly. Use our Heat and Cold Zones together with our ‘drip’ system, to make informed choices on which plants suit your climate and water availability. At Heronswood, and St Erth, we not only trial perennials, but create borders to show gardeners how to use them to best advantage. Our gardens are open all summer so you can visit and see how our perennials stand up to Australia’s hot climate.

Receive plants by mail

We send plants by Australia Post from January to November. Our plants are packed in trays that fit in robust boxes to ensure your purchase arrives in the best possible condition. We send our plants anywhere from Hobart to Darwin and you can order online from the comfort of your own home. This video explains what you should do when your plants arrive.

Payment is taken at the time of ordering and you will receive an email when components of your order are despatched. Gardeners who do not wish to join the Diggers Club are more than welcome to purchase at marked retail prices. Be sure to get in early for bulk orders.

Returns Policy

All goods are shipped in good order. Some plants may be dormant when you receive them so check the label. If goods are damaged in the post, or if before 90 days your plant has not performed as expected we will happily replace. Please ring the office with your order number and we will arrange to have the goods returned and resent or credited. Please note our policy on living product extends to those selected for your appropriate climate zone and where enclosed instructions have been followed.

Quarantine restrictions for interstate orders

The Diggers Club is obliged to meet all interstate quarantine restrictions and procedures for the movement of plant material (including seeds, bulbs and plants). These restrictions relate to declared weeds, plant pathogens and insect pests transferrable via plant material. Diggers is an accredited Nursery under the auspices of Department of Primary Industries Victoria - Plant Standards Branch, for the movement of plants to Tasmania, South Australia, Northern Territory and New South Wales. We also have audited agreements with the State authorities of Western Australia and Queensland. If there are products that are not available to you in your State, please understand that this results from conditions placed upon the Diggers Club by Governments, we have no say in these restrictions and must abide by them or face prosecution under the various State Quarantine Acts.
